Yahoo! is seeking an experienced Network Engineer who will be responsible for daily operations of the production network globally, with a specific focus upon delivering high availability (99.99+%) solutions. The successful candidate will have significant experience operating a global network, and understands the rigors and challenges of ensuring the success of the same. This engineer will be involved in fault management and response, service escalation management, and network implementation. This person will be the primary interface of delivery to the customers, will be responsible for both the quality of the network, and fulfilling customer request with SLA without impact to the production network. The candidate will also be engaged with direct vendor interaction in pursuit of high availability and stability goals. The position requires a strong understanding of all layers of networking, and the ability to troubleshoot, identify, and resolve often complex and non-linear problems in an extremely timely manner. 

Job responsibilities:

* Implementing, configuring, supporting and maintaining all aspects of Yahoo's local and wide-area networking, including routing, switching and content load balancing areas.

* Taking individual responsibility for resolving network-related issues reported to the Operation Center (NOC) from multiple sources including trouble tickets, phone calls .automated alerts etc and  provide resolution information and work with other teams to complete impact analysis where appropriate.

* Ensure successful adherence to network SLAs (Service Level Agreements) in regards to availability, network requests, and escalations.

* Participate in rotating "On Call" schedule with other members of the team.

* Provide final-tier support for network related issues and events.

* Support and lead implementation of growing network infrastructure.

*  Identify, research, evaluate and recommend network related tools and emerging network technologies.

* Interaction with other team members worldwide, and perform routine tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the network.

* Stay current with the latest technologies and issues in edge, core, and content networks.

Requirements:

*  Minimum 5+ years of recent operational hands-on experience with a wide variety of networking technologies, topologies and protocols, equipment, concepts, and architectures.

*  Very strong knowledge of current networking systems including routers , switches, firewalls, VPNs, data circuits, hardware based load balancing and security appliance, Security ACLs etc.

*  Extensive knowledge and experience with all aspects of content network, include core, edge, datacenter, and enterprise networks, including protocols such as MSTP, HSRP, VRRP, OSPF, BGP, ISIS, MPLS, RSVP, PIM etc

*  Extensive operational experience with enterprise/carrier-class routers, switches and Load balancer platforms (Juniper, Cisco, Force-10, Netscreen and Foundry (Brocade) or Netscalers)

*  General familiarity UNIX ,Windows operating systems and scripting (perl, Expect, TCL/tk etc)

*  Excellent oral and written communication skills with a cooperative and constructive attitude and an ability to effectively coordinate with teammates as well as co-workers in other organizations.

*  Excellent technical analysis and problem resolution skills with strong critical thinking abilities and an aptitude for quickly learning new skills.

Preferred:

*  BE/BSc or higher in computer science or a related field or equivalent experience.

*  5-9 years of IP-based networking experience

*  CCNP/CCIP/CCIE or equivalent Juniper certification highly desirable
