9. Data Center Ops Specialist- IS

· Job Description:
o Experience in Mainframe and midrange environment. The role requires working hand in hand with the operations and production control team which monitors the console, perform IPL, schedule online environments and performing the batch scheduling respectively.
o Balance the batch workload on all System LPARS. Verify that the online regions are available per schedule(s).
o Manipulate initiators to achieve optimum system performance. Knowledgeable of performance and automation to manage the resources in the same manner for recurring situations. Troubleshoot expertise is a plus.
o Monitor the systems via Supervision Master Consoles with Alert abilities and Candle Corporation’s Omegamon.
o Monitor peripherals (DASD, Tape Drives, etc…)
o Interact with the Technical support teams to ensure Sysmods are performed and completed in a timely manner, based on the Sysmod Window for each LPAR.
o Education and knowledge – be aware of new system releases and updates, including the various applications and vendor products.
o Perform scheduled IPL’s for maintenance, IPL’s for emergency situations and IML’s when necessary using HMC/HCD. (Systems Lock-ups, Loss of system due to power outage, etc…)
o Note any problems or requests that occurred during the shift in the shift turnover log, including REMEDY OPAS ticket numbers. (Problems may include: System Outage, Online Outage, Tape drive failure, DASD failure, etc…)
o Answer questions from clients and helpdesks. Understand that the client can be either someone on the account or an internal Dell Perot Systems user.
o Courteously handle requests for assistance. Make sure that you document in the turnover log any REMEDY OPAS tickets that are pertinent to the next shift or necessary for the Morning Status Report, especially any late Production online regions
· Required Skills:
o JES2, MVS, SYSPLEX, MIMS
o Mainframe on sysplex or omeganon, HMC and MVS

10. Data Center Operations – Analyst- IS

· Job Description:
o Monitor all platform availability and ensure all daily production is completed as schedule. This includes all FTP processing.
• Ensure all special requests are completed as requested.
• Review daily check off sheets.
• Provide guidance, and train and audit work of less-senior staff operating the computer system and other peripheral equipment. Assist in recommending schedules for staff and equipment to obtain maximum usage.
• Manipulate controls to initiate and operate the computer. Monitor and diagnose on-line system problems via use of various software tools. Initiate corrective action where possible.
• Obtain authorization from the manager for equipment repair. Interface with vendors to ensure timely attention to maintenance concerns. Troubleshoot and provide advice on data center equipment problems.
• Compile and maintain reports relative to computer operation as required. Review equipment logs and reports on equipment operation efficiency as required. Keep management abreast of the condition of the computer equipment and the adequacy of scheduling.
• Give proper turnover to the on-coming shift and shift lead. The turnover should be reviewed by exiting and oncoming shift lead prior to an individual leaving for that day.
• Ensure problem tickets are opened properly in time with the correct severity.
• Monitor escalation procedures for all SEV 1, SEV 2 and SEV 3 tickets.
• Have an understanding of client(s) and the Data Center Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) and ensure that one’s team has an understanding of the same information.
• Establish, review, and revise operating procedures, as required.
• Participate in system studies and implementations. Communicate technical alternatives to management and recommend appropriate actions.
• Ensure UNIX silo media is maintained on nights and weekends, and problems are identified and followed up until resolved.
