Responsibilities:
Scope and Accountability: Nature of contacts: This position will work cross functionally between systems teams, development teams, and with management teams for the purpose of planning and scaling the application and datacenter components to match business requirements. Assignments typically come from the Systems Engineering Manager and may also come from Development Leads and Managers. Strong independent decision making; makes recommendations; takes action; performs work under minimal supervision. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: . Knowledge and experience in JBOSS setup, performance, and tuning . Proven track record in large scale datacenter scaling specific to application scale out and performance trending , Proven track record in providing designs that increase stability across platforms and technologies . Knowledge of server hardware and software systems; installation and configuration of software and networks. .Specifically, knows RedHat, Oracle, JBOSS, JVM technologies, Apache, Tomcat, Active Directory and NT domains/trusts, Proxy Server, MS IIS, Win2K/2003/2008, DNS, WINS, DHCP, Microsoft Web Services and SQL Query Analyzer, RedHat, LDAP, and has worked with Oracle on Linux . Understanding of database technologies in SQL and Oracle and the ability provide design, performance and stability solutions in these arena’s .Ability to document best practices, procedures, and designs. .Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity. . Analytical skills necessary to ensure independent design and draft to final review of documentation and designs . Ability to learn, design, and implement procedures and technologies for systems and applications . Work effectively with all levels of company staff. . 7-10 years of experience systems engineering and architecture role with an emphasis on hosted solutions . Certifications in RedHat, networking, or MCSE preferred . Knowledge or experience in Agile or SCRUM in an IT environment Work Environment . Work at desk and local data centers . Some travel required . Available for on call escalation on a rotational basis
Qualifications:
Essential Functions: .Performance tuning and capacity planning. .Strong lead and team mentor for Linux, JVM Java technologies and systems applications .Strong experience in Oracle and general database performance .Strong experience in systems level design and scaling of custom developed applications with proven experience working with development teams .Strong experience in systems scaling and best of breed architecture in a hosted environment, including knowledge of application integration, scaling of SAN technologies (including RAID levels and vendor specific advantages in different platform scenarios) , network scaling preferably in a Cisco environment, server scaling with knowledge of current and emerging system and processor trends, application scaling from a systems perspective. .A proven track record leading scalable projects that optimize costs. . Install, administer, and update servers – physical and virtual (VMWare). . Ensure operating standards are developed, maintained, and adhered to. . Support application components in a Linux RedHat environment, including JBOSS and Java. . Monitor production systems and resolve issues. . Mentor other staff members. Secondary Functions: . Strong experience in systems monitoring applications. Knowledge of Cacti, APPManager, MOM, and SCOM desired . Knowledge of Cisco network devices including routers, switches, and firewalls  CCNA or equivilant. . Knowledge of Windows Server environments including Windows 2000, Windows 2003, and Windows 2008. MSCE or equivilant. . Experience in a .NET environment as it pertains to Hosted Systems Operations
